Contact author: Cindy Ventrice Is Your Boss Making You Sick???Interview Expert: Give Your Rotten Boss a Makeover
Another study shows that 22% of employees really don’t like their jobs, while an additional 33% of employees absolutely HATE their jobs. Why? Believe it or not, most people don’t hate their jobs because they aren’t paid enough…they hate their jobs because their bosses: 1. Overwork them. 2. Never give them credit for a job well done. 3. Don’t trust them. 4. Never say thank you. And let’s not forget all those rotten bosses who are crude, rude, mean, and disrespectful! So how many of your viewers/listeners/readers are (literally) sick of rotten bosses who treat them like dirt? And how many of your viewers/listeners/readers do you think would like to learn how to give their rotten boss a makeover…so they get a new and improved boss instead??? Please see below for more details. And if you and your listeners would like to learn how turn your rotten bosses into great bosses, email me at cventrice@maketheirday.com or call me at (831) 476-4224. Here’s the story: A study by Towers Perrin, a New York City HR consulting firm shows that 33% of employees feel intensely negative about their jobs, while another 22% feel moderately negative. The reasons employees gave for their negativity were insufficient recognition, lack of challenge, concerns about leadership, excessive workload, and anxiety about job security. My research shows that most of these reasons are things that a great manager can control. Becoming a great manager is a learned skill and I’ve been teaching managers these skills for years. I have also worked with hundreds of burned out employees, helping them to recreate their work and workplace and increase their job satisfaction. I’ve just released my first book, Make Their Day! Employee Recognition That Works. Unlike most books on recognition, this one doesn’t focus on programs and fun ideas. It focuses on the important stuff, the stuff that makes great bosses. Things like trust and respect, building recognition into the work and workplace, and learning how to offer the kind of praise people really want. But is there anything you and your viewers/listeners/readers can do to stop your bosses from being such creeps? You bet there is. In my book, I talk about what employees want from managers, what good managers do differently, and how employees can turn their rotten bosses into good bosses! Here are some things we can talk about:
Does this sound like a story that would interest your viewers/listeners/readers? If so, just email me at cventrice@maketheirday.com or call 831-476-4224 and we can set up an interview. All the best, Cindy Ventrice
